Homework Guidelines

Mr. McAdams 2006-2007

General Guidelines

  • Do all homework the same day it is assigned, where possible. This way the lesson is fresh in your mind and it will be easier.
  • Always check the answer, either with the back of the book, a key, or using methods we talked about in class.
  • If the answer you got is wrong, try it again. If you still don't get it, ask about it in class or before or after school.
  • Any problem that is prepared on time (a reasonable attempt is made) and with all work shown will get full credit when you show all work for the correct answer.
  • Homework prepared late will get 80% credit up until the end of the unit. After that it can only get 50% credit.

Group Guidelines

Here are some guidelines for working in groups. These will make sure that every member of the group is getting full benefit of the homework.

  • Everyone do the problem on their own at first. This is part of the learning process.
  • Compare answers with the answer key or back of the book. One of the people who got it right, explain how they did it.
  • Discuss ways you could check your work on a test.
  • Discuss whether someone had an easier way to do it.
